Regulating Reproductive Physiology:

In obstetrics, Oxytocin Acetate acts directly on uterine smooth muscle, increasing the frequency and intensity of uterine contractions. It is commonly used for induction and augmentation of labor, as well as for the prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage. It also promotes the contraction of myoepithelial cells surrounding the mammary alveoli, stimulating milk letdown and helping lactating women establish a normal suckling reflex.

Social and Emotional Regulation:

As a “hug hormone,” it influences social behavior, trust, and emotional connection by regulating the secretion of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin in the brain. Clinical studies have shown its potential to improve neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and social anxiety disorder.

Neuroprotection and Anti-Stress:

It can regulate the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol, and alleviate anxiety and depression. In studies of nervous system injuries, it has demonstrated neuroprotective effects by promoting neuronal cell survival and inhibiting apoptosis, but its clinical application requires further verification.
